Great day on the water. My 1st time on Rend in about 9 months. The wind was pretty bad and I was new to fishing in my boat with a bow mounted trolling motor. I quickly found some water that was blocked from the wind. Which made running the trolling motor much easier. Didn't catch too many fish for the 1st couple of hours only small ones. I saw another boat catching fish on the rip rap. They were haning their jigs on the rocks and them jiggling the jig off the rocks. I decided to follow their technique and it worked very well. The fish were right on the bottom in about 14ft of water. If your jig wasn't close to the bottom them you weren't catching fishin. I kept 22 fish, but should of had my limit except I lost track of my unders and didn't want to count them up again. Bobby Garland (baby shad) Cajun Cricket was the ticket for me also did good on a black and chartreuse.
There was a very nice bank fisherman named Earl (I think that was his name.... my memory isn't that good) who is a local and he talked with me for a few hours. We both enjoy pheasant hunting so that was a good portion of our conversation. I will say Crappie fisherman are really nice people! Best fish was a 12.5" white crappie.
