Jefson, wind direction decides where we fish most of the time. If the wind wasn't blowing out of the west we would have been over there but we do have other spots
around the lake that are hidden. The baitfish had been blown in this area for 2 days. If it is windy we learned our lesson and always put in at the marina. Getting in the water to the end of the trailer to get the boat on is no fun when the water temps are in the 40s.

Here is some of the data I collected from Mike Garthaus who is the fisheries bioligist for clinton. The full article will be out soon in Heartland Outdoors magazine.

    Greg,

We started stocking blacknose crappie into Clinton Lake in 2007. Each year adults are collected and placed in on-site nursery ponds for them to spawn. The offspring are harvested each fall and stocked into the lake. Most of the adults are kept for next year's production but some are released in the lake. A few of these large blacknose have been caught. Here are the numbers of blacknose we have stocked:

    2007-20,000

    2008-30,000

    2009-93,625

    2010-49,439

The average size of the 2007 year class was about 9.5 inches last September, 2010

No doubt that west side ramp is an adventure in the wind. Looks like there is potentially a lot more of those black nose gonna be available next fall.

    Thanks for the data.

Just usin a hand held FLIP camera. BTW, went again yesterday, bite was very slow and lethargic with not many numbers. Water temp had dropped 10 degrees, think fish are moving deeper.

Got out today 12/18 and the number was Zero. Weather was nice, but not even a bite. Color, depth, bait no bait, did not matter. On to next year.

What are the thoughts from the forum on why the white crappie are diminishing?
