    Exclamation Lake Matton Boat Accident

Apparently, there was a real bad boat accident at Lake Mattoon this morning. A Lowe bass boat T-boned a smaller Lowe. It happened near the Short subdivision. The bigger boat struck the smaller in the worst possible place, right where the boat operator was sitting. He was air lifted out. I don't know much about others involved but I was told all had to be rescued from the water. The accident happened around 10 AM or so.

I was out on the lake this morning, something I normally do not do on Saturday mornings. If I were out in the middle of the lake at 6:30 AM, I could have easily been hit by one of the bass tournament guys who were running wide open in the twilit with no running lights on. I knew they would be coming and I was in a safe area.

These guys do this every Saturday morning. There are kayaks that are out on the lake at that time in the morning. I have warned a couple of the ladies about the bass boats. It is a wonder one of them have not been struck.

I had a decent morning crappie fishin' coming in with 19 nice crappie and 2 channels, one weighed 6 pounds. I try so stay at home on Saturdays and Sundays. Partly because of the bass guys, partly because I don't want to give up one of my honey holes.

Bad I when I heard this I was thinking of Redtick and that he was ok and My Fiance dad was also out there fishing also. Glad to hear they are ok but that is a bad bad deal. Prayers will be sent. Please do not be hard on all them bass boats. It only takes a few rotten apples to ruin the whole batch.

I am not against the bass fishermen although they aggrevate me sometimes. Heck, I am buddies with some of them. I reckon we all need to use some caution at times.

I haven't heard who was involved or what happened to the seriuosly injured boater. It wasn't in today's Decatur papers.

I think the 4 guys in one boat were fishing near the bridge on the causeway most of the morning. It was on the channel 17 news this evening.

Redtick I get a chuckle out of your posts sometimes. Sometimes I agree with you and sometimes I disagree, but you say "we all need to use caution at times". You couldn't be more wrong. We all need to use caution ALL THE TIME!!!
