Water Temps cooling

Went crappie fishing today and we had about fifteen overs and about forty unders so all in all they are biting. I ran all over and tried a lot of patterns so can't really nail anything down as of yet. We caught more fish on standing timber in front of coves but never had a fish over ten inches. Those fish were nice fat fish but all about a quarter inch short. They want a jig swam by the standing trees not tight lined. The best fish still seamed to come on deep down trees in about twenty feet. That was mid lake though. I am trying more up north tomorrow. While I was running today I would look at my surface temps and like I said I was running so that gets the very top layer. I saw temps as low as 68 degrees. The temps while I was at rest were about 78 on north end. South end is still a little warmer. That is a huge difference from just a week ago when I saw temps about 85 and even 90 up in the river. These next few nights should get the crappie moving as I have seen bait start to move into the front of coves. I have also seen very small bait only a half-inch long around the front of these coves. I think however that these next few nights will have more effect on the white bass and they might get tough. So I am prepared to switch back and forth between whites and crappie this next week or so then I look forward to just going after the crappie. It was fun today tight lining 20 feet and feel that hard pop of a good crappie.

Missed a click on the old keyboard but, what the heck, he is up there on my Internet fishing heros. LOL.

Anyone that can please all of the clients he does on a daily basis would have to have a close connection with God to be able to find the fish and have the patience of a Saint to be able to deal with all of the clients . I will bet he runs into all kinds of folks.

Caught a nice 13" slab in the wood @ 15' near a cove entrance. The next biggest in the 2 limits was 11". That tap did feel good, ready for the cooler water!
