    Default Amount of Weight

What is your go to size weight when Spider Rigging ?

I tried it the other day and used 1/2 oz and with the trolling motor on 1 it seemed to fast the line come close to a 45 degree angle so I let of frequently.

The wind was not terrible and was going pretty slow.....

Maybe I just should of started with 1 oz.

    Just curious... Manny

Hey Manny, I pretty much always start out with a 1 oz weight. If i'm trolling any deeper than 12 or 15 feet then I go to a 1 1/2 oz weight. That will really help your line from dragging back on you. It will also help to keep your rods from bouncing so much in choppy water. If your trolling shallow water in alot of cover like stumps or flooded brush then a smaller weigh would come into play, but for most situations the heavier weight will help you out. Are you going to be trolling on the Big Sandy? If so try the east bank right at the base of the power lines. The old river channel runs real close to the bank there and I have caught some big uns right there. Also on the north side of the Big Island.
