    Default Black Betty Combo.

Got my BB Combo yesterday from Cablela's. If it's as good as Cabela's service? I should be pretty happy. I got the 27" UL,the reel is all metal, and seems to be good quality. Long reel shank, big knob for reeling, and drag seems good. Could use it with gloves on. Haven't tried it out, but plan to in the next few days. I had an exchange, the Genz Combo, for the BB. It all went smooth and only took a week and 1/2 to get the new one. Great service.

Good choice over the Genz model. I have 3 diffrent inlines and the Eagle Claw is a better reel than the other 2. It's smoother and picks up line quicker so i can fish deeper water with it. Still like my BB in shallow for gills and crappies too. If you can find an EC at a decent price, pick it up. You wont be dissapointed.

Thanks chaunc, I have looked high & low for an EC, none to be found. I have looked on line and in all the tackle places around...

Tried it out today. Got a 17" Lg. Mouth on it. The rod & reel works well. Free spooling would be nice.

Looking for their new inline reels, not spinning combos.

I don't believe there is a EC Inline available anywhere. The Black Betty 6061 inline must be in short supply also. I see them going for $150-175.
Make due with what you have now and next season there will be all kinds available.

Seems to me that recently I got an ad in the Email about another brand that seems to have shown up recently. IIRC it looked pretty similar to the Genz reel. No free spool either, and the price was in the mid $30s, but IIRC (having had a quick look and then deleting the Email), it was a multiplier. I'm going from memory here and just a quick look. I decided to wait until next year myself.

I think we will probably see a number of different and new models next fall from several sources. Personally I would prefer they offered them all summer. That sort of reel is what I would like to use jigging dock pilings over the summer. Jig spin is an issue then just like it is on the hard water.
