    Default In line ice reels

Basically using a fly reel has been picking up steam in the past few years in my area on ice rods.

Any of you guys out there got the pricier models like this one.......

Not an ice fisherman but neat looking reel but at 99.00 seems steep for ice fishing.

Rico, I have never seen anyone with a fly reel on an ice rod around here. The reel in the picture looks pretty sharp. First time I ever heard of it..

Well they aint actually fly reels persay. Basically an inverted schooley reel with features. The concept behind them is to prevent line twist. Here is another one that is about $10 cheaper!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, if I lived up there I'm sure I would be right in the middle of it. Have watched shows on it and figured you could get hooked real quick more tackle and gear

It is kind of funny. I grew up fishing through the ice. It was just what my family did. But in all my years, I have never taken someone for the first time that they didnt love it. It is highly addictive. And with the equipment they got these days it is quite comfortable......no more freezing your arsz off. Nice and toasty in the shack......and the electronics are something else. As I said, you ever make it up this way in the winter and I will set you up!!!!!!

I use a Three Forks 4/5/6 reel from Cabala's for hard water fishing. I paid around 20 dollars for the reel.
I really like the fly reel ice rod combo and may invest in a better reel this year.

These Ice Fishing Fly reels are super nice. Nice free fall, super retrieve with the 2.6 ratio. Great drag. I have been using one for 2 weeks now.
