Default First fish through the ice!

Figured I would post up a thanks to those of you who have humored me a few times and gave me some opinions and answers to questions. We finally got some ice and me and a couple buddies headed out early yesterday to catch some crappie. Well, less than a half hour into the morning I started pulling fish off the brush pile.

It is really cool to watch the jig drop on the flasher, pop it a few times, and see the fish come out of the brush and then feel them take the jig. That thump thump is addicting! My bucket had 13 in it at the end of the day. My two partners had 19 between the two of them.
Fun times with good friends! Can't beat it with a stick...

If you drop the brush, the fish WILL come...addictive, isn`t it? Good luck and keep your SAFETY gear WITH you... NOT in your vehicle!

We went back yesterday and got out on the ice. Four of us got on the fish early and we worked on 'em all day. My buddy and I both have Marcum LX-3's and they paid off in aces. Our group and the group beside us were the only ones on the crappie yesterday! There were probably 100-150 folks strung out along a river channel, and most folks were fishing in the channel and catching white bass. We were just on the channel edge and were on crappie. I don't have a final tally, but between two of us we had 43 crappie over 10" and 11 white bass up to 2.5 lbs or so. I'm guessing we've got around 70 crappie total with a couple more whites thrown in!
