    Default Ice fishing trip

Went out for third time this year and same results occurred. No fish for the pan. It has been brutal so far. Last year same date we caught 6 keeper northerns. Gotta get better will try again tomorrow. Not sure what problems is but water is very cloudy and I am sure last years winter took its toll. Winter kill cause of too much snow.

Not to much to pattern gotta wait for the fish to become active and find the feeding times. Caught a ton of small 3 inch perch every time out. Think their is way to much feed right now once they apre this down a bit will improve I am sure.

Fisherman 50, if you`re catching ALOT of smallish perch, you may be on/ near a good walleye spot...probably wouldn`t hurt to rig for them with a tip up not sure if it`s legal where you are but would try to catch the smallest perch you can and rig it with 2 small (#10- 12) trebles 4" apart, 1 in the top lip, 2cnd on top of his tail and fish it 1` off the bottom; see if it can find you dinner....

Went out yesterday the 20th and slayed the northerns and bass. Caught 5 over 29 and a bunch 24-26 inch northerns. Biggest bass was 17 1/2 five 14-15 inch or so. Gotta get out on wednesday for a while hope the luck holds went to a whole new area and water was clear as a bell. Think that is why it was so good. Best bait for the day was hotdogs on quick strike rigs. Not Kidding on that. Tight Lines Rich

hot dogs...OK...slivers, chunks or a whole dog? (How`d ya keep the bun from gett`n soggy? And mustard or ketchup?) Seriously, have used chunks for cats, but 1st time ever heard of using them for ice fishing!

Caught 2 today on hotdogs one 36 inch one 31 inch. I use a quick strike rig, a treble hook on each side of hot dog ends. fish it about a foot under the ice.
