Just to start out, I am a newbie at ice fishing and that is why I wish this list existed before I went out the first time this year. So this is what I have learned so far going out.

1) Use high viability line. DO not use braided line. Ice will freeze to it quicker. Use a mono line that is 4 to 6 pounds.

2) Use an auger to cut a 8" hole. We used a saw zaw and it took us 40 minutes to cut a 10" hole.

3) Make sure your live minnows sit on a piece of material (like a blanket) so that the cold does not over take them.

4) Make sure you use a head light as the sun goes down.

5) Bring a ladle to scoop ice out of your hole.

6) A heat source in your tent.

7) A sled that can carry everything.

8) A Shovel

9) Batteries.

10) food
