Your memory has spawned one of my own. The line on the cover about "another great Havilah Babcock quail story" brings back my memory of finding one of his books in the college library. Spent a lot of time reading about fishing and hunting in that library and bought re-prints of all of Babcock's books. Thank you for bringing those photos and memories to us.

Wow! Good read. I spent many hours reading about fishing and hunting myself when I was young and I am still today reading and learning. I always looked forward to the new Sears and Roebuck catalog to see the new fishing products and hunting products(guns) back in the days when I was a young boy also. Thanks for sharing this article and the pictures.

Like a few of the others, thanks for bringing back some fond memories. Outdoor Life was a favorite magazine of mine, but I craved all things outdoors. When young, you haven't a clue how great life is. No real worries, just school, sports, and the love of the great outdoors.
