    You might have swallowed lake water which might have given you some gastric distress, but you didn't have the bends. You don't surpass one atmosphere until you're deeper than 33', even there, you'd have to be there all day to be at risk for the bends or decompression sickness. That is why most dive shops and operators in the vacation spots take folks out for "resort or intro scuba" dives where they don't exceed 25-30'. There is no danger at those depths, you can go straight to the surface as fast as you want, no safety stop required, no injury.... other than getting ran over by a boat.

    The bends was my way of being sarcastic. I think I wrote that for my brother who is a master diver.

    I fish all these waters, too. The Occ is where it's at, and Fountainhead will eventually pull a new state record.

    I'd like to find where that record is hiding. I managed 5 citations last year and one this year out of he Occoquan. Largest 16.5". Far shy of the 4lb 10oz record.
