thanks Slab that is a great article .fished a pond in NC while i was up there in july . the beetle spin worked great .we use a blacki grub with yellow streaks .did catch a few on a curley tail . we probabley cought over 50 fish and had 40 keepers fishing a pond fromthe bank .

Great article. Regarding night fishing, my first experience with Crappie was night fishing from a lighted dock on West Point Lake in Georgia - and it was cold. Now we do it from a boat and fish under bridges at night using Coleman lanterns or car headlight floats which you can buy which are floated by styrofoam and hooked to a battery with alligator clips. We use minnows and the trick is to be setup by nightfall and have the lights going. The lights attract minnows and the minnows attract the Crappie. Fishing at night under bridges is one of the best ways to catch Crappie during the hot days of summer in the South. Most bridges over bodies of water have ropes hanging down which you can tie up to. If none hang down in your area just tie off between the bridge pile ons. Should try some night fishing Slab.

I'd have to agree, crappie fishing is every bit the equal of Bass fishing. There is nothing like getting on a school and pullin' in some slabs!
