Default bet he was a vet

we are standing in line to check out
fella behind us is an aged to perfection type
in a motorized wheelchair with his cane over the basket
all olive green attire , bet he was a ww2 vet is me
was struggling to get his groceries on the conveyor belt
so I decided to help him
he says thank you so much sir
about the time we were done I turned to the cashier and said let me pay his bill
well it started to get dicey , he says HEY what do you think your doing ?
I said paying for your groceries sir ! It is still a free country and I want to do it
the lady behind him smiled as did the cashier
he is still a little upset over it and I say it is my pleasure sir
we exchanged another word or 2 about it and he finally smiled big and said ok
NOW GET this part .....right when I put my card in the card reader
he says Hey ,I forgot something fella ....and he picked up his coffee can in a bag and shook it and said you could use some of my money if you need too ....
made me melt ,almost cried when I said no sir, I got this, as I loaded his basket back up ....
in a world of highly competitive everything , I am pretty sure I won the gold , just saying
he had $ 44 and some change worth of food items ...
bacon , sausage ,lettuce ,cabbage ,fruits and some other veggies , no junk involved
it was the best under $ 50 adventure ever, this is a FACT !

A great thing you did in a time when lots of folks have a hard time seeing their way through trying times in their lives. An official Well Done from all of us, we couldn’t have done any better. And then there’s the Karma involved. You, sir, have some good coming back to you when you least expect it.
