Sad to here these stories. 3 dead in a week on the same lake.. We had a girl thrown from a boat and busted her head on a rock. She is alive, and lucky. The guy driving was drunk.
Last night I was in the return path for a bass tourney weigh in. 20 of the cheeseheads at top speed one after another, all passed within 35yds of me.They weigh in just behind some bouys, all boats in a cluster. I slowly cruised back and forth just outside the bouys. You know real slow so my boat would put out it's nicest waves. They cussed and made threats but I just wanted them to see what it was like to not be respected. Now send me to the starving pigmies. I'm sorry. Boats have to much horsepower and speed for most lakes in GA and some of the idiots driving them have no horse sense.

    good job smitty

This is my biggest fear that keeps me off the lake at night. I'm scared some wahoo is going to run me over, or that I'll get lost and crash into a bank or something.

the bow light is supose to be above the triling motor . i was stopped by the lake patrole and told to git off the lake befor the sun went down . ben running this boat like this for years . cant have nothing blocking the bow light .
running lights are diffecult to see by as the boat dont stay at the same angle . i like a hand held light spot light

Makes sense to me. If you can't see it, it ain't doing it's job. You know, GA law also states that the stern light has to be 3 feet above the bow light. I was running illegal for a week or two, waiting for my new light to come in from Cabela's. Now I've got 52" LED on the back and 12" combo up front. It easily clears the trolling motor. But, like I said, I saw many that didn't. Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing the warden patrolling a little bit and taking care of that problem.

I made my first trip to Sinclair last night. I got there early afternoon and expected to not have to worry about the lake lice due to the spotty rain and being the middle of the week. WRONG! Still enough looney toons to make me go back to the 441 bridge and hide amoungst the concrete. I guess no wake means tidal wave to those folks. I saw a young couple out on a big ski boat and she was evidently in need of some sun because she was riding on the bow of the boat like it was some kinda ride a Six Flags. He took off from the bridge and made the boat stand up and darn near rolled her back into the boat. I am sure it won't be long before she falls off the front and we'll be reading about her in the paper. Seeing things like that and hearing about the others has made me really nervous about night stalking the big waters.

You'd have to figure that this weekend and a few days before are partially due to the July 4th weekend. I saw people headed to the lake this morning as I was going to work. I'm taking the four days AFTER the 4th off for my vacation. I'd expect the lake to be busy during this two week period. We may go back up on Thursday night. We may also head up tomorrow night, but we'll be on FULL ALERT while out there. Fortunately, the later it gets, the yahoos have had their fill and settled in for the night.

But, you're right ... we need some patrolling around the Choby's landing ramp.

I say report them. Since I live on the coastal side of the state and see these things way to often, I have no problem, and have on occassion, called the DNR and reported registration numbers of those that appear drunk, not obeying "No Wake Zones", and other hazardous actions while on the water. I figure if they get mad then they are still alive or haven't hurt someone else. Besides you don't have to give your name or at least I haven't. I know accidents will happen and I like to have fun too but stupidty should never be dismissed or ignored....
    Birddog,

I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep. That in His mercy I be judged, BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.
