Night Driving Lights

All this talk about the Allatoona wreck has me thinking about something. Since I've been fishing quite a bit at night, I was thinking (again) about adding a driving light to the front of my boat. Does anyone know of a good one? Cabela's has one, but it's $249 (same one at Bass Pro for $269)

I went to Advance Auto and bought a set of the small halogen projector type driving lights and mounted one on the front of both of my boats just in front of the bow light. hooked it up to the nav. light switch. works great. it comes on anytime the bow light is on and stays off when the anchor light is on. Price: $30.

I had considered an auto parts store. The one that I mentioned was 400,000 candlepower. But, I would think a driving light might suffice just fine. That's certainly more reasonable.

I have a power outlet next to the steering and keep a 2 million candle power spotlight plugged in that I use to keep me on track at nite.....works pretty good in fog too.....Tried to use it without being plugged in and ran the battery down after about 30 minutes constant use and had to ease back to camp in the rain without any light. Long 3 miles.....

You're right again. I was fishing last weekend on Sinclair. My 1 million CP light lasted about twenty minutes, I would guess.

Like I said in an earlier post, it's amazing how fast some of the boats were running at night. I'd feel better with an "always on" light when moving. I'd rig it like you did, with the bow lights.

I guess I could always leave my fishing lights up and the generator humming away. It looks like a floating football field when it is all lit up. My wife says that the lightening bugs come in and land for a recharge..
