I crappie fish when when I aint deer hunting until it's just too blame hot for this old man to be out in the boat sweating his butt off and Ive NEVER caught a 3 lb crappie. I only know of a very few that ever has. They like to call it the "3 lb Club"! I keep fishing and hoping to join that club one day. My biggest is 2 & 3/4 lbs. Congrats to the young man with his new lake record. Sounds like it wont be broken for quite a while.

Only one i ever caught was 3lb 1oz at the Hill. I was in a bass tournament and caught it on a shad rap. Kept in the livewell for a couple hours , weighed it and released it. Never caught another one. Son caught the 2-15 and wife caught the 2-10 last year. Son's fish was at Lake Summit beside my house and hers was at Russell last year. Lake Summit produced TWO 3lb fish last year and 1 the year before. It has some whoppers but not many crappie overall.
