Yesterday started out cool and a little windy. I put in at Gaults landing and ran a short way up in Kellogg. Found the fish suspended in 12’-11.5’. The wind made the day a little raw. I shut off the big motor and deployed the Ulterra. I turned on the LiveScope and scanned the creek looking for schools. Bingo found three different schools as well as a brush pile that was sporting some fish on it. Started out at .07 and first trun in the mouth of Owl and Kellogg produced 2 12” fish. The water was stained but the green has started to show the water temp was 45 degrees. To my surprise the wind softened and I noticed the fish were moving up. I started seeing them at 7.5-5’ that caused me to bump up the speed and it seemed to cause the fish to bite. The fish would either just load the rod or hammer the rod almost out of the holders. I love this time of year. I’m a part of a group of old guys who self imposed size limits. We release all fish over 12” . Today I didn’t have time to clean the fish we caught so we released all of them. A custom Emerald green, and dark blue chartreuse and black chartreuse. Were the hot colors for us.
