Read all the post from the previous week. Printed out the long line depth chart. Put the boat in at the Hwy 44 boat ramp about 9am. Water was muddy. Headed out to Lick Creek to the deeper water. Got 2 new fish finders (Lowrance HDS 7 Carbon) for Christmas so I applied all that I had learned about them. Seen plenty of fish on the fish finder (or what I thought was fish). Trolled in 25' to 35' feet. Long lined from 20' to 30' feet of water. Put every color of cruly tail I had on at one time or another. Head red, white head, yellow head, black head, no head at all, I tried them all. Put the boat back on the trailer and did the Waffle House thing for lunch. Got the boat back in the water and headed to the other Hwy 44 bridge. Figured I had nothing to lose since the catching fish (not fishing) was as dead as the meal I just ate from the greasy spoon. Fished all the fish attraction spots on my chart, trolled 25' to 35' feet of water. Long lined from 20' to 30' feet of water. Nothing, not a, zero, not a wing, not a wang. It started getting late (long drive to Perry, Ga.) so I headed back to the boat ramp. Though out the day I talked (in passing) to several that were fishing and no one caught much of nothing at all. A couple of crappie, 1 white bass, a couple of strippers. Well I don't fell as bad now cause no one is really knock'm out so I tell myself well maybe it was the muddy water, maybe it just wasn't my day, maybe I wasn't holding my mouth open right. I get home late put the boat and stuff up and head to bed. Today I get on crappie.com and see all that was caught over the weekend. I said "Well, good for them." Glad you all caught fish. My hat is off to all of you. But one day here in the near future..........it's gonna be my turn. I'll be smiling from ear to ear holding my fish and taking pictures and posting for all to see.......I'll be glad when that day comes so I can say. "I've paid my dues".
