Trumpdriver yall are tough.. I slept in my tent at blackshear and it was 22 degrees..right papasage...last year..
Ask hendo and Howard if the wind blew at harding in 2006?? For 3 days it howled. BUT this weekend was rougher than both of those because the WIND never quit blowing. The wind has blown for 72 hours and it blew in the cold. Glad yall tied your tents down well. I still wish I had a video of your preformance Friday afternoon...priceless..

sssssssshhhhhhh !:D I looked at that rock Sunday morning and thought " that would have been a real site for Smitty if I had gotten hung on it and sat out there for 2 days going round and round and round :eek: My luck the vienna sausage would have been at the camp site and I would have starved to death going round in circles:D

rough weather memories
Reading these postings reminds me of a tournament I was in with the Atlanta Bass Club (I was one of the founding members) back in 1971 out of Chewalla Marina on Eufaula. We were in against a club out of Alabama and the conditions were like you guys were in at West Point and was pure hell. In fact we had 2 guys go out and they didnt come back. They capsized and died from hypothermia in 4 feet of water over on the Alabama side...and both had their life jackets on too. The cold water just did them in. Both were in their mid-thirties, married with kids. What a tragedy.
I remember coming out of that cut from Chewalla Marina (I had that big Bomber with the 125 on it) and when I turned north away from the bridge out there I thought it was the pacific ocean...it was horrible! Went back south, got on the south side of the rip rap along the causeway and ended the day with one stunning 2 pound bass which almost won the thing!
Those Rangers were taking on water right and left and their bilge pumps were going all day long. I turned mine on once in that Bomber...the safest boat I ever had.
Looking back, I cannot imagine why I would do something that foolhardy and ridiculous, being out in that wide open flatlander in such dangerous conditions. Sure glad I got out of that nonsense and turned into a full scale crappie and bluegill fisherman. Bass Clubs.......BAHHHH! Humbug!
Regards,
Doug Bush

doug we are far from being a bass club. We share info. We let other members know where and how we are catching them...even during the tourney. We are more like an anti-bass club..lol not all of them are bad. One tailhole can make many miserable. We have had few problems! I have met some good people here. Some i expect will be my friends for life. I hope we can keep these events friendly with entire families. One way to be sure is to just stop having the tourney for money if we do get into problems. Like the bible says;
"for the love of money is the root of evil" bragging rights are worth more than money but a little extra cash to buy fishing gear is nice.:) I have bought gear with every penny I have won. Hope you will join us and bring your family. just wear boots if you stand around the campfires..;)

Doug, come to the slabfest at blackshear and I will show you a bunch of happy campers. If it's anything like the last one I guarantee you'll have a blast. Good fishing, good food, and great friends, it don't get any better than that.

Besides, I'm tired of being the oldest one there. LOL
