Default LAKE OCONEE REPORT 5/1/18 (VIDEO)

Jim, Stan and I fished Lake Oconee yesterday. We fished from 7:45 a.m. until around 4:00 p.m.. The water temperature was 68 degrees when we started and 75 degrees when we finished. We fished mid lake. We caught tons of small fish. It would not be an exaggeration to say we probably caught at least 80 fish. In the end we finished the day with 23 good fish 11-13.75 inches. There was no particular jig color that seemed to work best. We caught them on light colors and dark colors. We also caught some "trophy" trash fish. Stan is still amazed at the contempt Jim and I have for stripers, white bass, hybrids, et al. It grieved him to see us pitch those fish back in the water while proclaiming their vileness. Stan told us the he once paid $300 at another lake for a guided striper fishing trip and they only caught one fish. According to Jim, at that rate we caught about $900 dollars worth yesterday. Hmmm? Oh by the way, a lot of fish are in the woods. We had a great day made more enjoyable by picking on Stan who laughed it off. He knew he was fishing with a couple of hard headed old guys. Additionally, we did not lose or break any fishing rods.
