Man I only fish west point on spring break. I can help you in spring but this late I would probably try night fishing. West point is a tuff lake. Lots of guy do good long lineing in early spring.around late March we catch them on the banks and brush casting jigs (black and chart. Tube) the bridges hold fish pretty good day or night.

Thanks black and chartreuse help. May Dad's favorite color. He always told me it works every where. I will be trying some night fishing soon.

The Hwy 219 & 109 bridges are very popular for night fishing. Not a lot of docks on WP

Hey Fitter - Brother-in-law and I was there last Friday and Saturday. We launched at Georgia Park, and caught fish both days. We probably only caught 8 fish at or over 11 inches, but we probably caught well over 100 fish. We kept 31 on Friday, and 25 on Saturday. We were pushing with two poles, and pulling with four, and by far, the pulling poles produced more fish. We found them in the coves - best fishing came from water that was 6 to 10' deep. Water was between 70 and 74 degrees. Our best color was blue and white, and no minnows. We took minnows on Friday, but didn't even bother on Saturday. No real big ones (I'm sure they are already deeper), but females are spawned out, and males have lost most of their color. Still had a great time!!

Thanks this helps allot. I fished last Friday as well. Only 2 crappie. I seen water temp at 72 I fished deeper I caught mine at 12 to 15 ft water suspended over cover. The color of jig helps. I never really learn how to trolling. Maybe time to learn. I typly use minnows

I use a variety of dark colors at WP. Color to me is not the main factor at this lake like others. Depth, water temp, and shade come into play this time of year.

After the spawn, the best methods are either trolling (1/16 or 1/8 jig with variety of colors) or night fishing on bridges? What about bream, can they still be found on the banks during a full moon?

The best fishing from now through the summer will be on brush piles that people have put out. Night fishing the bridges is also a good bet.
