Went to Tobesofkee yesterday. It is still about 4' low. Be careful launching your boats because the docks are still out of the water. If you're fishing alone you're very limited on where you can beach your boat after you launch unless you do so on rocks or concrete. They are rebuilding the docks at Claystone park. A temporary floating dock during low water would be nice during low water drawdown.
Water temperature cooled down yesterday with the cool air and wind. We found temps in the 60 degree range but most was in the upper 50's.
We trolled early yesterday from 7am until 3:30. We kept 9 crappie and one channel cat. No specific color worked better than another. Black/blue/chartreuse triple ripple worked fair trolled in 10'. Blue/chartreuse strike king grub picked up a couple and a pearl bobby garland grub picked up a couple and we picked up a couple stripers on a two toned purple bobby garland grub.
Judging from the fish I cleaned, most of the crappie are still 2-3 weeks out from spawning. A couple of the smaller females barely had roe in them.
I managed to catch a few at Sinclair last Friday. Nothing very big and the fish seemed a little scattered. I was mainly doing some exploring on the upper end. Water temps are fine so I'm just waiting on the crappie to hit the shallows. My better fish were caught in 3-4 FOW and I found a few coves where they were smacking the top of the water later in the day.
Nice
And with that, I'll see you on the water...
