Jim and I fished Lake Oconee yesterday. The water temperature was 52 degrees when we started and rose to 54 degrees later in the day. We began looking for fish in the river channel. We marked a few fish scattered in the channel but not near as many as we had seen the past few months. We caught our first fish at 8:53 and it 14.5 inches in length and the best fish of the day. We fished the channel until about 11:00 and had two fish in the cooler. We started looking for fish and finally found some around lunch time. We trolled another 1/4 mile or so and caught one more fish. After about an hour the fish started to turn on and we caught 7 more fish in about an hours time. At 1:45 we had a trolling motor issue and that ended out day. It was a good day on the water and we put 10 nice fish in the cooler. The fish are fat!
