Default Blackshear 9-9...it aint quite ready yet.

Household 6 and I fished Blackshear today. Water temps were 84-86* and clear. Fish are still deep on the river ledges and brush pile. Fished from 7 a.m. till 11:30 and it was HOT when we left. We managed 9 keepers, a turtle (yes longlinging, a first for me) and a huge gar. The Gar were rampaging all over the lake this morning, crappie bit early, but the bite quit once the sun got up good around 10 am.

All in all a decent morning on the water, especially since I havent been fishing in 2 months. Its only going to get better.

Forgot to add, the lake is about 4 ft low so if you go be careful in the shallow areas.

Thanks for the report. I'm glad to see someone long lining. That turtle must have been the "Michael Phelps" of the turtle world.
