Long-lining works year round, just have to change locations and depths (as you did),its a great technique for finding and catching aggressive fish.

OCONEE THURSDAY 6/1/16
Jim's brother-in-law, Gary Wilson from Lakeland, Florida, came up to go crappie fishing today and tomorrow. Jim invited me to go along so I did. I was raised to well to decline an offer to go fishing. We launched at Sugar Creek and began fishing around 7 a.m. We fished the Sugar Creek area for about 3 hours and kept 8 fish. We then moved to mid lake to fish an area we discovered on Tuesday. We began to fish the new spot at about 10:30 and by 1:00 we had a total of 31 fish. The average fish at mid lake was larger than those we caught in Sugar Creek. It was fast and furious for a while and Jim even caught a double on one of the long lines. After I netted the fish on the top jig, Jim said "I thought that fish was bigger than that." I told him there was another one down there. They were both over 11 inches. I was netting fish in both ends of the boat as Gary caught on quick. He was tending 8 long lines out of the rear of the boat. It was a great day and I was pleased that we could show Gary how we Georgians "speck" fish. As everyone knows the fish are in the woods but we are still able to catch them on jigs. I don't know how long this will continue but we are going to ride it out. I didn't think you could catch fish longlining in the winter time. However this past January in Richland Creek I watched Quackhead 90 and Dutch mauling them on longlines. So why not in summer also? We will see.
