I use 16' B n M trolling rods. I like the 16' rods rigged with a 3/4oz weight so I can push .8-1.2 mph and keep my bait out from under the boat. I can also go as slow as I want. It works great for me.

I'm currently using a BnM PST 14' rod and two Capps/Coleman 14' rods to push jigs. Started with 1/2oz weights and intend to try 3/4oz weights on my next trip. I generally "push" at 0.4mph to 0.8mph, depending on which speed will keep my lines at approx. a 45deg angle. Doing so, I can easily calculate the depth of my jigs by multiplying the length of line out by 0.6 (14' of line out x 0.6 = 8.4ft jig depth ... and I discount the 0.4ft as line length between rod tip & surface of the water, so actual depth of jig is ~8ft) Every extra foot of line out will increase the jig depth by about 7 inches. "Line out" measurements are taken from rod tip to barrel weight, since the jigs, even though they're on 12-18" leaders, will not run much deeper than the weight ... at those speeds.
I did notice that while both rods handled the weight/speed, the C/C rods are a bit softer action. They did "bounce" more & longer when boat was rocked by incoming waves. But, on relatively flat water, there was no discernible difference. I wish I could say that I did see lite bites better on the softer action C/C rods, which is what I was told by my "Spider Rigging Mentor" ... but, the fact is, all I ever saw was the rod tips buried in the watersince it seemed like I always got bit when my attention was away from the rod tips.

I like the Crappiemaxx and Wally Marshall tight line specials.
Robert, you are going to get a lot of opinions which is a good thing. I push with 8 - Crappie Max 14 foot Signature Series Rods. They are more sensitive than the Tightline Series but they have plenty of backbone. I normally push with 1/2 up to 3/4 ounce weights. Double rigs with 2/0 gold aberdeen hooks and or Sugar Bugs and or Taser Jigs tipped with minnows. I have found that sometimes crappie like just a minnow on a gold hook instead of on a jig. I push a lot slower than most folks because I am generally targeting a specific spot.

Now y'all have me thinking and stewing on my options and now I have smoke rolling out of my ears. Earl learned how to catch them on homemade cane poles with a gold hook and minnows sometimes them old ways are the best.
Southern crappie rods has come out with a new 14 ft rod that is supposed to handle up to 2 ounces of weight for pushing or pulling cranks. Check them out
