    Default The Hill is Flooded!

Thought I would try to fish off some of that Christmas turkey and dressing. Figured GA Little River would be up and stained from all the rain, but when I got to Amity the ramp and dock was mostly underwater, the water was pure red mud, and I have never seen so much floating debris, including some huge logs and branches. Bottom line, the water was unfishable and the ramp unusable.

Made my way over to Dordon Creek and the water was in much better shape. Some stain and some floating stuff, but not bad at all. As you can see from the picture of the Dordon ramp and dock, the water is higher than I have seen it in years. Good news is that I ended the day with 16 keepers, mostly from an old brush pile in 33 feet (it would have been in 25 feet last Saturday!), with most caught on minnows and a few on kalin jigs.

Clarks Hill level is at 334 feet today, up a full 8 feet from this time last week, which is an incredible amount of water in just a few days. The entire lake will be muddy and trashy by mid week, and if we continue to get just modest rain thru the winter, it could easily be spring before it clears. Oh well, it was a great fall for fishing.

You are a brave soul. Good job. I'm surprised you were able to catch any fish after all the rain. We have had 10 inches since Monday. I hope you will keep us posted as I plan on doing some fishing there this winter/spring. Thanks for the report.

With all this rain I'm sure theyre pulling alot of water which will move the mudline towards the dam clearing up the water much quicker than you might think. We just need for rain to stop for a couple weeks at a time so the corps stands a chance on getting the lake into a much more fishable state. Congrats on your catch slabdawg and thanks for posting about the hill. Sounds like you did pretty good considering how messed up the lake is right now.
