I probably should have put it off...but I been really wanting to try this spider rigging thing, so I opted to go close to home @ lake Jackson....arrived around 930 am with a pretty stiff breeze and a water temp of 58.8 degrees....made the run up to rocky creek and took my time getting my spread out and set up for the first time..... I then went up the Alchovy to the idle speed only area and found fish stacked in the 'S" turn...fish were suspended in 12-14 foot of water over an 18' bottom .....long story short I ended the day with only 6....all were caught in 12-16 foot of water....I did accomplish my task with testing my home-made rod holder and I actually did catch fish on the spider rig...tried to stay between .3 and .5 mph when the wind allowed, the I-Pilot did its job
the bites were mostly "unnoticeable" the rod would just sort of load up, I had 1 bite that was a FOR SURE bite but thats the one I slap missed.....all fish with the exception of one was small 6 or 7 inches long, the last one I caught was a solid keeper....
fished till about 330, by then the temps dropped to the point I couldnt stand it any more, and I noticed the water temp had dropped to just above 56 degrees
pictured below is my 6 rod spread on my homemade rode holder and the second is my 1st spider rig crappie!!!!
all in all it fun trying something new...hopefully it was the weather that had them lock jawed

Hang in there. It will only get better. Try to hook up with the semi-pros that enjoy Jackson and you should do well. Andy-1 Cove
Good report. Your set-up looks great. Keep at it and good luck.
Nice setup, PVC is good for everything. Good luck fishing.
Would you post a picture of the whole stand????? Just wondering how you mounted it?
Thanks
P.S thanks for reporting.
Now you are ready to travel to the big water! Nice setup. I feel duped now cause I spent a lot on mine. Anyway , lets go fishing!
its hard to see in the picture on the ground...but I have a piece of spring steel coming back off the plywood and have a small piece of pipe welded to the end of the steel (you can see if it if you look close)that the seat pedestal fits down thru.....holds everything in place perfectly///the rod holders I got from academy for about $2 each, just to the spike off of them and used carriage bolts to mount to the pvc
if I get back to the lake this weekend I will get some better pixs

retired and now i will always fish
I've spread 12 rod holders all around the boat. kinda wish I had more in the
rear of the boat. With a flat floor and side console it works ok.
