Tell us what exactly the engine was doing, there is some pretty smart fellas on here and maybe we can help you figure it out and you can do the work yourself.

My brother and I took a trip over to Blackshear today (Tuesday). The main reason was to check out my new old boat I just got and to hopefully do a little fishing. Got a late start and didn't get there until around 11:00. Got the boat in the water and she cranked right up. I idled over to the dock and was waiting for my brother to park the truck and I'm thinking, man this thing cranked right up and is running good. I didn't no more than get that thought out of my head before it started spitting and sputtering and finally shut off. My brother saw gas dripping pretty good out from around the cowling. Thought I may have flooded it by sitting there idling, so we let it set a few minutes and tried again. After several tries it finally cranked and we took off before it had a chance to shut off again. After running a few minutes, it was obvious there was something wrong with the engine, so we shut it down and was going to use the trolling motor to do a little fishing around the tressel. Naturally it didn't work either.
Well I, at least, got to check everything out with the boat and that was my primary reason for going but we were still kinda put out to say the least.
I cried all the way home just thinking about how high the bill was going to be for all of the repairs.![]()

stuck float or trash under the float needle .
retired and now i will always fish
Too late for me to do anything. I got up early this morning and ran it down to the marine shop. The mechanic took a quick look at it and said he was pretty sure it was the carbs. He's going to check it out thoroughly and clean the carbs for me. The trolling motor is a 24 volt motor that will run on either 12 or 24 volts, so I just put one battery in it yesterday because I was in a hurry. I didn't know you had to have both batteries in it to run and that you could switch it from 24 to 12 at the pedal, duhhh.
So maybe I'll get it back up an running before long. Man that is a real pretty lake. We only saw 3 other boats the whole time we were there.
PM sent.

That is a bummer Doodlebug. What Marina did you take it too? I hope you are back fishing soon at a reasonable cost.
Want to go tomorrow. Was the water clear or muddy?
