I used to hunt on Gum swamp creek around 1983 to 1985. Not to far out of Cochran on hwy 26 on a farm. The farm grew soybeans. There weren't many deer back then but they were huge from eating soybeans. Every buck shot was mounted except a few spikes.

Slabby, that's the area where I grew up.I'm sure I know the farmer you're speaking of.Always been big deer killed along gum swamp creek.
HuckaBuck I can't remember the farmer's name. The retired Post Master from Cochran use to grow a garden on a little piece of the farm and he would let us pick Butter Beans in the afternoon when we were bow hunting. I love Butter Beans. They also grew some peanuts and after they turned them over they would let us load the left overs in my truck. I would come home with bed full of peanut leftovers and we would sift through them to get enough to boil. Them were some fun times.
Lol..Seems like Gum Swampers have a crew on here! I grew up on Gum Swamp in Dodge Co…
