    Default Saturday 4/26 at blackshear

Larry and I fished Blackshear for our first time Saturday. We planned to try catching crappie by shootin docks or drowning minners and if that failed our backup plan was to give the gills and crackers a try with jumpers.

We put in at the public ramp at the mouth of Cedar Creek, went across the creek and shot docks down till the water got too shallow. Larry caught a cat that went about a pound from under a dock with a jig. We rigged up our minner rods with floats and worked and back up the other side almost to the ramp shootin jigs and drowning minners without another bite. We put a float and a half a jumper on our other rods and were pitching them to cover and let our minners drag behind the boat. Larry's minner was about thirty feet behind the boat and he caught a cat o it that went about three pounds. As soon as we got it in the boat I pitched my worm next to the dock just ahead of us and caught another good cat. We anchored down and fished there for over an hour and ended up with about fifteen cats between one half pound and four pounds, a gill I almost couldn't get my hand around, and a hald a dozen smaller bream and gills.

By about 3:30 the joy riders, gator trollers, and jet skiers had beat the water to a froth and we were in danger of getting tossed out of the boat so we decided to give it a break, ice down the fish, and come back little later and finish out the day. After seeing how many fish we had and icing them down, we had a sausage dog at Stripplings and decided we were not up to riding the waves anymore so we headed home.

We want to get back down there during the week if we can before the schools let out but we ain't about to try it when all those aggrivating idjits are loose.
