    Default Chehaw Park fishing?

The wife is running a 4 mile trail run there this weekend and I'm going to try the fishing. I've never been there and don't know a thing about it. The webpage just says fishing is allowed.

Any help? What's out there? More than one pond, etc.?

I go by there every time I go to my girlfriends house and also wondered what the fishing was like there. I have never heard a word about it. I'm curious as to what you find out...Good Luck!

headed there this morning. From what I hear, there's at least two places to fish- one a pond and then a bigger lake. We'll see. I'm just bank fishing with the kids, so no telling how we'll do.

Okay, a little report...Lake Chehaw is not in the park itself, but next to it. There is a public boat ramp on the other side of the road from Chehaw Park. I did not do any fishing there but it definitely looks like a place to go back and bring the boat. At the public ramp, there is a walking trail that goes about 5 miles toward the Flint River and along the path there are a few docks you could fish off of if you don't have a boat.

In the park itself is a fishing pond. Nice size- easy to walk around and plenty of places to fish off the bank. I had the two kids with me and we were fishing 1 inch curly tail grubs and some Zoom finesse worms wacky rigged. The kids had a blast catching dink after dink Bluegill. I did not catch a thing with the worm so swapped over to a small crankbait and started catching dinks, too. In total- within an hour and a half- we had caught over 25 'gills. None were keeper size for me. The park says you can keep 5 fish per person. One other person was fishing the pond and had the same type of luck. I'd like to go back, though, when they get some size on them and have us a good fish fry. Thumbs Up

Cost to get in the park was cheap- $2 for adults and $1 per kid so 6 bucks total. Overall, a great fun day- but not a good place to fish for the "serious" angler.

the lake with the diving board has hand size crappie and a few bigger. the creek behind it has some pretty good fishing also if it has good flow. This is the Auburn lake I'm speaking of.
by the way are you the guy that makes me have to do the speed limit when I'm hauling loupes from there???
