From what I heard...it's still that way all over the lake. Temps were gettin better, but all that rain didn't help!....gettin closer to "smoke em" time though!

Did anyone else have better luck than I did at Oconee today? Caught 2 crappie at about a pound each and about a 3-4 pound hybrid. I think they are still in that "I don't know whats going on" stage. I was marking fish in 12-25 feet of water and the fish are suspended anywhere from 5 to 18ft deep so it was real hard for me to pinpoint exactly what depth to fish and can't really tell if I am looking at crappie or catfish/bass etc. I tried everything. The color that got bit was a black blue black jiffy jig. I did play with my Lowrance a little and actually could see my jigs/minnows right at a foot or two above the schools of fish. Even ran them through the schools of fish I was marking trying to put it in their mouth and no luck with that either.
Only thing I can figure is its the weather thats been so up and down. Water temp today was anywhere from 54 to 57 degrees.

We caught 5 yesterday, right at the end of the trip, but the fresh water from all the rain has them shut down. Never fear, this weekend is goign to be crazy good if the weather stays right
We fished almost the hole length of sugar creek and caught 1 and then went way up the river and caught 1 up there.
Oconee is still in that funk. Crazy. Sorry you didn't get the old man on some fish. It's got to turn around soon.
Sounds like others were having a tough time too. I guess I am going to hit it hard starting February
