First I would hook line to another tank that I know works, then try. Still dont work, W-Mart has a new line with tank fitting, disconnect and bulb for 26.00 or so dollars. It has an O-Ring in the disconnect that seals off any chance of air. Be sure to use Teflon thread sealer on the fitting to the gas tank. If this doesnt work you probaly have a faulty fuel pump. I had a similar problem with my 75 HP Force. It cranked great and ran good until I had a heavy load in boat and then after running along about 35 mph she would start cutting out and finally stop. Checked bulb and it was a little soft and would pump up and run just fast enough to get on plane the rest of day. After several tries I changed tank-line-bulb-fitting with the new disconnect with the O-Ring and solved my problems. I think the O-Ring in the disconnect was the key to solving problem. Good luck. BB
My bulb was loosing prime causing me to have to squeeze the bulb to pump it back up before the motor shut off and I found that cleaning out the water seperator was my only problem. I should mention this is on an older Johnson carburated engine.
TNT,
Any prize for the winner? LOL Anyway, post what the issue was. Be interesting to see what it was.
I checked several things...I'll find out tomorrow if any of them worked!!
The bulb is meant to flow gas in one direction. Reverse the blub and try it again.
Charlie
Which one worked? BB
I'm not sure just exactly what I did, but something I touched seem to work...Boat ran nice and smooth and topped out at 41 mph...But the idle was a little rough...Figured it was the carbs or something minor from sitting up for so long...Put it in the shop and found out that I was only running on 4 cylinders:yikes...Needs a new stator, so it has been ordered and waiting on it to come in...I just told my boat man to make it right while he had it!!!...Still can't believe how good it was running on just 4 cylinders tho:scratchhead
out bords will run on lost cylinders and rev and run smoth but when in gear with preasure on it it don`t pull good . with a lost cylinder it should have not run that fast . my 70 hp lost a cylinder from a bad coil and it wouldnot plane off but it is a 3 cylinder .can`t understand a bad stator making you loose 2 cylinders . maby the coils like my 70 hp did .
