    Default Crankn @ Blackshear

Took advantage of the cloudy cooler weather and cranked up a few today. Most averaged 10" but light weights from summer thinning. All released to grow some more. Water temps were 85 and fish with bait scattered along channel and deeper flats. 10-15' down was the best using Bandit, CrappieMax, and StrikeKing 200-300 sizes. Had to have pink in it to get bit. 1.5-1.9 mph. No trash fish today.

Nice haul Shine. I have been hitting the Toona up the past few weeks. All whites and 1 black. The whites act much more like bass than blacks when hooked. I have had several jump out the water and flop around trying to shake the hook. They seem thicker than blacks also. What is your take on this?

After catching them on 3" gizzies this spring I had no doubt they would hit a 2" crankbait. Fun stuff. You should try it a time or two. I'm addicted.

I don't know why those whites are thicker than the blacks up there. It's the opposite @ Blackshear. The whites always seem thinner except for December till April. I have weighed some 15-16" whites that barely weigh 1.5 lbs were as the blacks will be much closer to 2 or over. Plenty of shad to feed on. Just don't know what's going on. Lot of the fish have scars on them like they barely escaped being eaten by something. Maybe those whites are just running scared all the time and burning off what they are eating. They do fight pretty good and want to throw those treble hooks like a bass.

I am gonna push the cranks next trip and some new style baits I have tied up to see if I can stay in the zone better. Gonna try to hit the tops of the trash piles to see if some big blacks or whites will commit. May slow down a tenth or two also.

congrats Shine nice catch. Would using this set up (one crank bait with two treble hooks) be legal in the tournys. I guess what I am asking is if the treble hooks would count as 1 hook or not.
