You can find some bank fishing near Acworth just stop in at paw paws bait store on 293 just north of acworth and they should be able to point you in the right direction on allatoona. and you might want to check out lake acworth as well. just stop on main st in downtown and ask for directions.

George,
I lived in Lilburn in the 70's and now my son just moved there, so we will be down there occasionally. I learned to crappie fish and to troll for them on Stone Mountain Lake. It was full of crappie back then, we often caught 2 man limits of 100 in a half day. Need to check the current regs on the lake, but back then you could use up to a 10hp motor. You don't need to spend a lot of money to fish in a boat there. A used jon boat, electric motor and battery and you are good to go. I never fished from the bank, but I am sure there are places to do that. I would certainly give it try. We fished in the big lake and had to be off the water by 1PM on weekends but we usually had all we wanted by then. There was a smaller fishing lake, but I never fished it. Did too good in the main lake. Lots of mornings in the winter I was the only one on the lake.
Check it out and let us know what you find. I am considering dragging my rig from SC down there at some point.

stop by the Dugout bait and tackle there and marietta. I fish allatoona almost year around and carter's alot now cause of walleye. the crappie in my avatar is a allatoona. plus if you have heard the term The dead sea thats allatoona's nickname.
there's alot of places to set-up on shore to fish crappie and other types of fish. i fished mostly on the shore up til last year when i got a boat.
Welcome - 2 weeks ago I put in @ Kellogg Creek (on the map I think its called Payne ) and passed under the bridge headed out to the main lake. A guy on the bank was leaving and had a basket of few. Let me know if you go there and I'll try to point you to a brush pile close enough to cast to.
