Default crazy true fishing story from 2 days ago

Me and my buddy are heading down to night fish Oconne under the bridge hoping to hurt the crappie population during the full moon. Put the boat in the water and little outboard would not fire up. I smell fuel and I figure I flooded her, so I pull the plugs and end up dropping one of the plugs into the water. #&@#^$! Ok, so my buddy says lets go fish dock lights. No crappie but we start catching small cats, so I hook a small brim and send him out into the middle of the cove looking for hybrid or big cat. Set my rod on the dock and turn my back. Splash, my rod goes into the water in an instant. I spend the next couple of minutes sulking about my bass pro shop spinning rig while my buddy rubs it in because he saw the whole thing. I decide to throw out half of a bream on my other rod and forget about losing my best rig. Not 5 minutes pass and my drag starts talking. I tighten my drag and try to bury the hook in its mouth. It feels like a good catfish. After fighting it for a minute or two the rod I had lost comes to the surface and my buddy grabs the tangled mess while i am celebrating we untangle the two lines and the fish is still on my wet dirty rod. I fight him for another 30 seconds and he gets off at the dock. My buddy turns to me and says "That will never happen again"!

Isn't it absolutley amazing how things can go so wrong, so quickly when your fishing. I have cussed myself into HELL several times trying to untangle the messes I get myself into. Well it is a pretty amazing story with a great ending.

Dude same thing happened to me a couple years ago during August when the Stripes were running at Jackson. Boat was down so I decided to go fish under one of my favorite bridges earlier on the North end of Lake. Its about 5 am and I've got 2-3 rods out for cats with shad on bottom and a couple big shad about 4 ft. under lighted floats...I turned my head for 2 seconds and hear one of the rods with the float scraping across the rocks and GONE...BRAND NEW Abu Garcia on an Ugly Stik...I was P'O'd.....about 30 minutes later one of my bottom rigs starts acting funny and the tip buries to the water. I'm pulling and the weight felt like a big flathead...when it gets close I see its an 8-10lb. channel with line wrapped all around him but could tell something was puling the other line so I grab it. Its the other rod I lost...with a 8 lb. striper on the other end...so 2 good fish..rod in..and I'm saying thank you to the man upstairs...UNBELIEVABLE
