Welcome Uncle Moo and all others, we are happy to have to have you join us. Jimmy S. from Savannah
Ty Jimmy -- I am from SC originally and would love to hear from others where the best fishing is here in Ga.
Welcome from Gray, Ga. IMHO Clarks Hill is the best big fish lake right now in Georgia. You have several great lakes within a couple of hours. Lanier, Oconee, Allatoona, Sinclair and West Point.
Ty Earl -- Yes, I have fished Clark Hill many times. I recently fished Oconee but didn't do well there. I had better luck at Charles B. Elliot and the small ponds there fishing for Crappie just a week ago. They were full of eggs and I thing they are about to get on the beds in a few days. I'm going back there this weekend.
I catch alot at charlie elliott myself ...my wife works there!
I did not tell him about Lake Jackson because I thought you and Gtojoe had caught all the crappie out of there!!!
Oh yeah forgot about that! They may be one or two left...

New Member here - Just joined this past week and have learned so much thus far. I retired from the Army in 2006 and then took an IT job here in Columbus. I've lived in Columbus since 1992 minus a 4 year tour to Alaska. I am an Avid Bass Fisherman but hopefully that will turn seasonal for me as I plan to do much Crappie Fishing now that I'm getting older (46). I'm familiar with West Point, Harding, Oliver and Eufaula for Bass Fishing. I'm unfamiliar with ALL of those lakes in terms of Crappie Fishing. Like I said, I just realized I wanted to start Crappie fishing like on Monday, hehe.
For Christmas I asked the wife for the "Funds" to purchase everything needed to build my own Spider Rig for the boat and 8 Rods and Reels. She approved, I purchased and this weekend will be my first time!!! I've asked my Dad (69) to come with me, should be hoots of fun!
Looking forward to learning everything there is to learn from you guys. It's great to be among such Crappie Experts!
Good Luck to you Mumpy and Welcome:welcome
:welcome from Florida. You will learn a lot from the Georgia boys. But if you ever want to learn about the Florida lakes ( especially Talquin) then you need to come to the florida forum. :Rofl:Rofl:Rofl

It looks like my wife and I will be retireing and moving to the Lanier area. I fish almost every weekend now and from reading about your lakes I can not wait. In Virginia our best lake is Kerr lake with some great crappie slabs. I do respond on the Va site now and the crappie fishing is really starting to pick up. Hope to meet you guys in about a year and a half from now. Fishing new bodies of water has always been fun. Tight lines JIM.B
welcome to Ga jim
Hey Everyone,
Gerald here from Afghanistan, but will be home to Ga in a few weeks. Getting back into fishing, and just bought a new boat, gotta go to NC to pick it up when I return. Also, have to get the associated accessories for the boat and all new fishing gear. Any advice you can give on rods, reels, etc. will be appreciated. I will predominately be fishing for crappie in rivers and lakes, with being centrally located between Lanier and Oconee.
Gerald

Hello All, New to this forum but have learned alot from reading over your shoulders for a few months now. Glad to be aboard. Crappie fished most of my life with my Dad on West Point so I know that lake from Franklin to Maple Creek and Long Cane. I have two boys now that love to fish so we hope to learn more about other lakes within a decent drive to catch a crappie or two. Currently decking and modding a jon boat that my father gave me as a teen. This will be the boys (ages 9 and 12) first boat so we are making pictures to post. Thanks for the oppertunity to join. I look forward to learning from you all!
