    Default quick advise

    Hey folks.
I'm taking a quick two night trip up to Blue Ridge, Ga.
Where I'll be staying has access to several ponds and I was wondering....and perhaps a river not far away.

What would I fish with to catch a few trout?

I'm not exactly going up there to fish, but thought since I was there... I'd at least wet a hook for a little while.

I'm not into fly fishing, so that idea is not an option... and if I get a couple of hours with a pole, I think I'll be doing good.

Does anyone know the area and/or have some suggestions?

    Thanks!

Make sure the season is open. Most of the mountain creeks have a season that begins in March (I think?!?).

    Thanks!
    Hadn't even thought of that.
But then again, I've never fished for them... always been a bass and crappie guy. Maybe I'd better just stick to that.

    Default fish'n for trout

    Hey Pofisher,
I got some buddies that live in the mountains and they do a little trout fishing.
THey use like a medium size worm (live worm) red wigglers etc.. With a split-shot up above the hook and no cork. they throw down stream and pull the worm over rocks and little nooks and crannies back up the stream.
Hand tied jigs with feathers and such work good for the trout too.
This is how they fish in the streams and rivers. dont know too much about trout in ponds.
SOme people use korn kernals under a cork!
    good luck

    Thumbs up

Hey POfisher, I was raised in NGA, we always fish with crickets and yellow corn, with a brass hook, went last Sept in NEGA, and we brought home 42 native trout. Remeber you need a trout stamp also. I also fish the tooca River that is stated has the state record for a brown or brook trout also. I love using an old Devil master for that river. Good Luck and let us know how you ddi.

    Thanks for reminding us Jim...

Seems when you posted in the off topic forum "I am going fishing and not going to worry anymore of the direction the Georgia forums are headed" that you really didn't mean it. Man... great bluff there! You had me believing you!! Your good.

Now we know you that you were really just yanking our rods....

So let me be the first to welcome you back... that is, of course... if you actually left.
