Tk, Not knowing what part of atlanta you live in will make it a little tuff.
If you are going to bank fish the lock and dam in Rome Ga.Will be by far your best bet to catch fish.

I just moved to the Atlanta area. Spending my weekends scouting good fishing waters.
I got two cousins who are coming to visit me from the northern states and want to do some crappie fishing.
Could someone please point out which lake or which region of the river we should go to? Just need a location to start with, I don't want to pry out your "secret" spots.I could do some more research then.......
Thanks~
P.S. No boat

born to Fish, forced to work
Three lake one hour from ATL. West Point, Lanier & Alatoona all good lakes fish middle to top parts. Fish should be following the shad into creeks as the water cools in the 50 degress mark. Find the shad and crappie with be close by. longline until You find them and if consectrated fish tightline the area. All three lake have 1-2 LB fish each can be good at different times. Good luck and let us know how You do.

I am in downtown. And thanks for the quick reply, guys. I will check out those locations....
I fished west point before. I didn't have much success on crappie, but bass~Ooo~ those spotted are fun to catch....... and the hybrids at the dam......![]()
if you want to try lanier you can try the wahoo creek area around the bridge or clarks bridge area. Yellow creek area is normally pretty good but not lately
If you wanna go south, Lake Oconee down below the Long Shoals ramp toward the dam is great!
