Lake Oconee

Does anybody know how Oconee was built and when the lake was formed some of the timber was removed and a lot was left. Did they remove the stumps?

I believe they impounded it around the mid 1970s. They left a lot of timber and stumps. I use to go crappie fishing in a little boat I had and I would have a limit of crappie which was a 100 fish back then before lunch. They were all huge crappie too. Those were the days. So much fun and we wore the fish out.
