    Default The ol fishing truck

Got me an old truck to tinker with...
This truck belonged to an old timer that used to take me fishing when I was a kid. He passed away a couple months ago at the age of 87. Although his health would not let him fish anymore, I would stop by and visit with him about once a month. Usually we would talk fishing but sometimes it never came up. Sometimes he just talked about the old days. He was one of those wise, work hardened old timers with a strong faith that you just wanted to set at his feet and listen when he talked.
This truck has been sitting in the same spot in a barn since 1992. It was actually his fathers truck. His dad parked it and passed away that night and they never moved it again....their way of dealing with a loss I guess.
I bought it from the family...gonna get it back on the road.

This was as it sat. We only got 1 tire to hold air.

You can learn a lot about life setting and listening to old timers.

Great story. Bet he would be happy you ended up with the truck. I'd like to have it myself. What year is it?

Its a 1965 c10. 92,000 miles that I believe to be accurate. Straight six, three on the tree...not sure of cubic inches. Guessing 250 but not familiar with these trucks.
Wood bed is still in excellent shape. Soaked the cylinders with Kroil for a couple days before trying to turn it over by hand. Engine is free but I have not tried to start it yet.

Still had a spit cup and two feed sacks in the floorboard from 25 years ago.lol

    If this thing could talk...

It's wet. Pics are a deceiving. It's not shiny, but still looks good for age.
