We will not get DNR to do anything. We need someone with connections to the Chairman of the DNR committee in our legislature. The Atlanta elite control most things and they have no clue as to what we need. I tried for years to get a fall hen season for Turkeys and the Atlanta Idiots think Turkeys are under populated.
I wrote Chris Nelson about the Crappie size limits some time back and have not heard a word back.
Danbo, if they do not reduce the limit it really does not matter. Most folks except die hard hunters have quit hunting by December anyway.
Most here in the South do not hunt until December as it is no fun to get ate by bugs and sweat while deer hunting. I think the limit should be changed, but Ga does not have enough officers to enforce anything. They are using our license money for other things besides conservation. Outdoors men will not stand together so nothing will be done. Be lucky if you can own a gun or buy ammo soon. Many people are pushing for archery only deer hunting.
Whoopity do...they need to reduce the limit and the number of days. Last season I saw 4...and let them all walk.
A 10 doe limit isn't hunting its predation.
For the Everlasting Glory of the Infantry.
I wonder how DNR gets their deer data to know which county should have less or more doe days? They must have crystal balls.LOL
Most hunters that I know will take what they need for food and may take another if it is a trophy.
Looks like no change in Hancock...Sure wish they'd cut it back for a few years...Too many slayers in Hancock , especially locals...
Earl is right most people including me have quit or slowed down their hunting by December. The rut is over and it gets real hard to see deer in December and January. If you wait to hunt until December to hunt you miss the rut at least where I hunt. Lowering the limit in December is not going to have much effect. Wes
The only reason the limit on deer is so high is because of political pressure from vehicle insurance companies. Dnr knows the deer population is at an all time low they just wont admit it because of political reasons. Back to the crappie, it seems resonable to me if the state agreed to try managing at least one central georgia lake for a five year term. Just to see if it works. We do pay their salaries by the way. I see a rising number in crappie fisherman including young kids. And the opposite for hunting. As fast as a white perch multiplies dnr should take in to consideration, trying to improve the fisheries we do have . Dnr is there to protect, preserve and manage the wildlife across the state.if you start hollering about poor custumer service to the governors office about any state agency,,i promise something will be done. They should at least contact you back within a resonable time frame ya know
