    Default Project Of My Own

I live about 3 miles from the Intercostal waterway , a friend told me about a good whiting drop , I put my 12 ft. jon boat in and ran to the drop. anchored in 40 ft. of water. had jist caught one whiting when a BIG boat came by at full throttle pushing a big wake. my anchor rope was tight with no slack and I knew I was in trouble, I put on my life jacket just as the first wake broke over the bow, I thought I was going down but the anchor rope pulled a little slack and the next wake did not come over the bow. I pulled the anchor and came home. started looking for a bigger boat for salt water. I wanted the one sage rebuilt, had the money but was afraid I might get in the medicare dough nut hole and need the money to pay for my medicine so I passed it up, I found a 14 ft. open fiberglass boat with a live well and bought it. it needs some glass work but will make a good boat when I am finished with it. will post some pics when I am finshed with it. may ask for some advice from you experts. Thanks. Jimmy S.

Good to see you getting smarter as you get older......Those 12 footers are scary to me.......and in the Big Water.......no way. I helped a neighbor redo a fiberglass boat . Not too bad..........We were working in the hot sun with fiber glass rosin and epoxy.....and had some gas close by..........Next thing we knew......Boat was up in smoke. Learned a good lesson...

I had a similiar experience with a 17 1/2' aluminum boat...Went to a larger fiberglass and will never go back to a smaller boat...Good luck on getting it the way you want it Jimmy!!!...Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Thanks guys, hey Curtis that sounds a little scarey. but it makes me want to laugh at myself. yesterday I was glassing and did not have any gloves. when I finished my hands were in a mess AND getting sort of stiff. I began to look for my gas can , it was empty! I began to PANIC ! I picked up my weed eater, was lucky it had some fuel in it. man that was scarey. guess what I bought today before I started glassing? right! gloves. almost finished with it. thanks for the site to get some help . Jimmy S.
