Ragfly - I sure am sorry to hear of the problems your father and family are facing. Couple of years ago I watched my father waste away from cancer with the same helpless feelings. You have my prayers.

I know alot of you remember my dad fracturing 2 verterbre about 9 months ago, well he has fractured another one last week. The Dr. suggested with his health and age(83) to try and let it heel like a broke bone. Dr. said surgery is last resort. What is wrong now is that his dementia has kicked in really bad. He is now half the man he used to be. He now has to have someone with him 24/7 because of the way he is acting and talking out of his head. This is so hard on me and my family. SOmething new to me but I am learning but still hard. I need everyone to add my dad to your prayer list. Lets please start the mighty power of prayer for my dad.

Rusty, I feel your pain. My mother went in the hospital to have a pacemaker put in. They over medicated her on pain killers and she fell getting out of bed. She broke her pelvis and back. The doctor said she was too old for surgery (she just turned 89) and should heal naturally. After a month of just not getting any better, it was discovered that she had an e.Coli infection behind her pacemaker. They had to go in and remove the tissue and infection leaving a hole the size of you fist. After one month in the hospital she is finally recovering slowly at home. She suffered from dementia on and off for the past year. I am telling you all of this to let you know, she came as close to death as she possibly could and survived. I was convinced several times that her feeble body just could not recover, BUT SHE DID. I thank GOD everyday that I have another day with her and that is truly a blessing. She too is 3/4 of the woman she once was, but that is a massive improvement from 1/4 of the woman she once was. Spend as much time as you can with him (call several times a day if you can) as you can, letting him know how much you love him. You have been a good son and you both share many happy memories. Hang in there brother, because we are all praying for your dad. Everyday with them in your life is a blessing and your memories will last a lifetime.
added you, your Dad and the rest of your family to my prayers
