    what is in it ?. varnish build up use a paint remover or lacquer thinner . i would use Kutzit paint remover . there is some that is cheaper on the market but that is a name brand i can remember. metal tank with rust in it put a handful of pee size gravle in it and shake it .

    If you open the cap and look into it as ugly as you are the dirt should just run away[haha]. I still think that half bleach and water would do it as long as you rinse it out good and dry it out good. hard to replace a odd sized tank though so do what ever just to try.

    he was able to remove it without takeing off the deck but it was hard. 16 gallon tank on a 28 year old boat. I think the new one's are different shaped. The tank is plastic I believe.
