Shoot thru hull transducer

I recently set up a small single walled fiberglass boat to fish small waters. I do not want to mount the transducer outside if at all possible. A friend tells me that I can mount it on the bottom of the boat [inside] with the same results.Has anyone tried this method?If so I'd appreciate the info

Most of your high end boats are done this way. I have a 2006 Triton that has a through hull transducer. Mine is a pod transducer, but I'm told you get the same results using a standard transducer. I asked a lowrance rep the same question and he said you couldn't see a difference. I'm able to watch my weights and jigs on the screen when I'm tightlining so I guess it works pretty good.

yes you can . use epoxy but do not have bubbles in it .
i asked this question on the marine DR. site several years ago . he was installing one that day .also you can mount one in a aluminum boat.
