As most of you know, I have had a battle with the new depth finders. I have been told time and again that the water intrusion problems have been solved and it looks like i'm being told the truth. I now have an HDS-7 on the front of my boat and an HDS-8 at the console. I figured while they're still under warranty I'd take a water hose to them. Guess what....... They passed the test. Now I can just sit back and enjoy. Any of you considering buying one of these things will NOT be disappointed. My only suggestion would be to make sure the manufacturing date is newer than July. I would suspect that anyone having older stock will still have water intrusion problems. Also, Lowrance has had a large infusion of funds to help take care of their customer service issues. Now, lets FISH.

LOL Hey, I blame all this on Drill Instructor. Untill I met him I was fine just shooting docks. I'd hate to know how much money he cost me.

great news score. maybe lowrance will take the older stock off the shelf and put the new ones up so they can avoid future problems.
Got crappie?:D
Yeah, you would think they would take them back and rework the parts that are defective. They have a lot riding on the HDS line and need to get these things resolved to make the public more comfortable with them.
For anyone who has experienced the moisture problem - what were the symptoms? Did you see moisture inside the unit or did it just fail on you?
I can't wait to get one of these things. Still saving my pennies.

[COLOR="black"][Great News!!/COLOR]Last night, Kieth and I went fishing on Lanier. We weren't there half an hour before the bottom dropped out. We must have gotten close to an inch of rain in a short period of time. After the storm passed, we thought it was safe to fish and started putting the lights and rods out. It couldn't have been 15-20 minutes later and it started raining again. This must have lasted a couple of hours. Well, long story short. I went out to my boat this morning and both the HDS-8 and HDS-7 were fine........NO MORE WATER INTRUSION WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO. If the sonars can handle the storm and rain we had last night, then I believe they have the issues resolved. THANK YOU LOWRANCE!

I don't know about that..... We marked all kinds of fish last night. But just cause you can see them doesn't mean you can catch em. We only caught 1 crappie for the evening.
