    Default Longing for Labor Day

Is this not the day the lake officially closes to Weekend Wallys? :D

I was trying to launch last night at Lake Allatoona and the ramp was backed up far more than usual..... I got out, put the plugs in, and prepped the boat for launch. Still no movement on the ramp.

I walked down to see what was going on..... 2 ramps had boats sideways on the trailers trying to load and another was empty save the woman on a cell phone trying to back a F-350 with a 26' trailer down the ramp. She had no clue what she was doing. Many observers sitting around the ramp made the comment how "nuts" this was.

I asked her if she could back the trailer and she said no....... I told her I would back it in for her and promptly did so with many cheers from the onlooking crowd.....

What kind of idiot sends an inexperienced driver to back in a rig with that kind of crowd on the ramp?

After launching I move to the dock to tie off some clueless Wally cuts me off trying to get to the dock, then as he is about to crash into the dock., slams his boat in reverse, almost tearing my trolling motor off the front of my boat..... It was so busy and crowded that my GF was afraid to try to maneuver through with the truck and trailer and asked me to "PLEASE PARK FOR ME".

Now this may not be the best idea but I always just bungee the boat to a cleat for short term dockage......Never a bad deal until today....Another Wally comes plowing into the dock in a liquor induced coma, grabs my bungeed boat, pushes it away from the dock, breaks the bungee, sends it boomeranging through the crowd, and almost knocking my girlfriend in the water....

I don't normally say this, but I am longing for some 40 degree days on the lake! :D

Sounds like an arse whooping was pretty 'near in order. He could tear his rig up if he wanted but best not mess with mine.

i feel your pain. I am so glad I don't deal with that kind of crowd. Sounds like it could be dangerous. I am laid back 90% of the time but that ramp would get me ill. Now I know when people are new to boating they have to learn and it takes time to make all of the mistakes before they can handle launching with ease. What kills me when they know better but don't care. Others that think they own the ramp and parking areas. Like when they park taking two spaces. Last week the parking was full and 2 trucks and trailers were taking 4 spaces.. I fish during the week. I hate weekends. but I am going todayabout the time weekenders will be leaving.
Just hang in there cool weather is coming..
